Do you, like Lydia Bennett, long for a Ball?

Learn the beautiful figures of an English Country Dance when you join us to celebrate 200 years of Pride and Prejudice at the Netherfield Ball on Saturday, June 22, 2013, sponsored by the North Texas Chapter of JASNA.  The evening will be filled with lovely dancing, sumptuous treats, and excellent company.

Our venue is the fabulous Tobian Auditorium, part of the Temple Emanuel-El complex in Dallas located on the northeast corner of Northwest Highway and Hillcrest.  The Tobian Auditorium features a full hardwood floor, stage area, open and roomy lobby area and a beautiful, lush garden.  Access to the Tobian Room is via a covered walkway originating in a large, convenient parking area.

With its ample space, accoutrements and a convenient location, The Tobian Auditorium promises to be the perfect setting for the Netherfield Ball.

Registration is now open for the public.  Space is limited, so make haste.

Don’t know an allemande from a gypsy?

Plan to attend a practice session (or two) before the Ball.

On Saturday, June 8th, during the June with Jane Austen seminar, our very own Luellen Bassano will be holding a dance workshop.  Register for the event here - space for the workshop is limited!

                                                  or

To get your dancing shoes warmed up the afternoon of the Ball,  join the North Texas Traditional Dance Society from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.   The group also holds dances the fourth Saturday of every month.   Events are at The First United Lutheran Church, 6202 East Mockingbird Lane in Dallas.   Cost is $9.00 per person and no advanced registration is required.

DANCE SHOE POLICY

For your comfort, safety and enjoyment, only dance shoes or flat shoes will be allowed at the Netherfield Ball. Please wear shoes that allow you to turn easily on a wooden floor, but are not too slippery.
Leather soles work well, as can suede, walking shoes, jazz shoes, and Oxford-style shoes.

You are also welcome to bring more than one pair to test on the floor at the event.

We appreciate your compliance for your enjoyment and safety as well as in consideration of our host venue.
